Abtron Electric Peewee C, U13, 2019-2020 (Stratford Aces Girls Hockey)

The Aces travelled to Orangeville for the 40th Annual Sweetheart Tournament in Orangeville this past weekend. Despite playing up a division with the Peewee B teams, the Aces showed a lot of heart and character and competed hard against some high quality competition.

The Aces braved the winter weather today to travel to Exeter for a game against South Huron. The Aces played an aggressive game from start to finish and controlled the play for most of the game. Laura opened the scoring by knocking in a rebound after a great play by Cassie to get to a loose puck and get a shot on net.

The Aces responded to a tough loss on Saturday by bringing their A game on Sunday. Peyton V was excellent a both ends of the ice, limiting the Wallaceburg offense to only a handful of chances and setting up a great goal by Cassidy in the slot. Steph filled in on D as well and was also very effective with some great outlet passes and timely pinches.

The Aces had a tough game on Saturday, struggling to contain the Lambton Attack. While the Aces were generally able to contain the quicker Lambton forwards, a few lapses in our own zone proved costly as the Attack made the most of their opportunities.

The Aces brought their trademark combination of aggressive forechecking and strong defense to Woodstock for the weekend and powered their way to a convincing win in the gold medal game. The Aces started strong on Thursday night with Piper scoring 2 mins into the game on a great feed from Abby. Deirdre followed that up by converting a great steal into another goal before the end of the first period. The Aces defense took over from there and never gave up many chances. Piper was player of the game.
