Peewee C Aces Win 24th Annual Woodstock Wildcats Tournament
The Aces brought their trademark combination of aggressive forechecking and strong defense to Woodstock for the weekend and powered their way to a convincing win in the gold medal game.

The Aces started strong on Thursday night with Piper scoring 2 mins into the game on a great feed from Abby. Deirdre followed that up by converting a great steal into another goal before the end of the first period. The Aces defense took over from there and never gave up many chances. Piper was player of the game.

Game 2 featured a match up against the West Grey Warriors. Piper again opened the scoring on a great pass from Katelynn. Katelynn scored herself a few minutes later on a nice pass from Rylee and again the Aces defense shut down the opposition. Katelynn was player of the game.

Game 3 was a tough battle for the Aces. After the Aces beat South Huron in league play last weekend, they knew that South Huron would be looking for revenge. The Aces struggled to hit the net and the South Huron defense did a great job clearing the rebounds around their net. South Huron managed to convert one rebound for a 1-0 win. Laura was player of the game for her great all-around effort and a particularly exciting rush in the third period.

After losing Game 3, Game 4 was a must win game for the Aces against a St Thomas team that has beat us twice this season. The line of Katelynn, Abby and Piper stepped up with all three of them scoring and assisting on goals. Abby was player of the game for her excellent back-checking effort throughout the game.

South Huron ended up first due to the head to head tiebreaker but the Aces qualified for the finals and a rematch against South Huron. The Aces came out flying with a number of scoring chances in the opening minutes. By 1 min into the second period, the Aces had built a 4-0 lead on a hat-trick from Katelynn and a great shot from the point by Peyton B. South Huron managed to get one goal to cut the lead to 4-1 but the Aces responded with 2 more (Katelynn and Paige with 0.1 sec left) for a 6-1 final score. Katelynn led the way offensively with 4 goals while Abby had 3 assists. Peyton V was player of the game for her overall dominant defensive effort throughout the tournament.

Congratulations Aces!
