Cambridge Roadrunners Tournament
The Stratford Accumetal Bantam A Aces played their third tournament of the year in Cambridge last week-end.
By all accounts the tournament opener sounded like the Aces outplayed the Bluewater Hawks. Mikayla Flanagan's goal, assisted by Stacey Shackleton and Abby Gilchrist, gave the Aces a slim 1 to 0 lead through 2 periods. Bluewater managed a pair of goals in the third to steal the win.
Game 2 on Friday night was a bit more of a one-sided affair with the host Cambridge Roadrunners handing the Aces a 4 to 1 loss. Flanagan again provided the loan Stratford goal, this time unassisted.
On Saturday the Aces spent the day at the mall.
The "early" game ended up in a 2 to 2 tie against the London Devilettes. Abby Gilchrist's unassisted goal put the Aces ahead half way through the game. 2 minutes later London evened things up. London had what looked like it might be the game winning goal with 5 minutes to go in the third but Brooklyn Rau tied things up again from McKenzie Dietrich with 49 seconds left and the Aces net empty.
Hours later, and with a somewhat shuffled lineup, Stratford faced the Woolwich Wild. Sara Campbell provided Stratford's only goal in this game assisted by Olivia Galloway and Avery Boyes. Woolwich scored 3 goals in the third period including an empty-netter to defeat the Aces 3 to 1.
With a record of 1 tie and 3 losses Stratford was eliminated from further play.
Nice hair though!
