Aces Second day at the Pink on the Rink Tourny did not disappoint
Peewee BB Aces sponsored by Taylor Fluid Systems played two games today winning both to advance them to the semi finals. The first game was against Brantford Ice Cats where it was Neumeisters turn between the pipesl this game and as usual solid as a rock stopping 15 shots. This game was the defences turn to display their skills with some beauty D to D passing which lead to their first goal of the game.

Fifield received a hard pass from her partner; controlling the pass she took a shot towards the net; the Ices Cats goalie gave up a juicy rebound and through the scrum Josephine Jarmuth found the puck and sent it to its home. The first ending up 1 for the good gals. However, the wheels feel off the wagon during the second and the first half of the third periods which seen the aces down 2-1 with 6ish minutes left in the game. Then again, our defence came to the rescue as Grace Laverty rushed the puck into the offence zone, took a shot, followed the shot to pick up the rebound to score the goal and tie the game at two, with five minutes to play. With 2:21 left in the tie game, the Aces have to go on the PK. As the PK was coming to an end, Jarmuth decided to go for an end to end rush faking out 4 of the Cats and beating their goalie with a perfectly places shot over her should to win the game. The Taylor Fluid Systems Aces finished 2nd in their Pool and are now off to the Quarters. After a quick swim and nap the girls were back to the arena to take on the 1st finishing team in Pool C-the Burlington Barracudas. This game was a nail biter, with chances at both ends, which seen Sloan Cameron playing outstanding keeping her team in the game. Scoring in this game didn’t start until the second period where Aveleen Flood received an awesome bank pass from Devan Taylor, Flood took the puck into the offensive zone and froze the goalie with some nifty stick work, shooting the puck through the five hole of the Barracudas goalie to give the Aces the lead. Which stuck until the beginning of the third where a scrum in front of our net seen one sneak past our goalie to tie the game. That didn’t last long thou, where again Josephine Jarmuth skated the puck into the offensive zone, gets to the face off dot and wires a bullet that the goalie could not handle to score the go ahead goal with five nerve racking minutes to play. To make matters worse, the Aces had to go on the PK with two minutes left and the Barracudas pulled their goalie to make it a six on four. The Aces banded together to clear the puck when they could and even had a rush or two to try to get an empty netter to finish the game strong.
