Perth Auto Dismantlers Atom A, U11, 2018-2019 (Stratford Aces Girls Hockey)

The Perth Auto Dismantlers Atom A Aces have spent their entire season preparing for this weekend. It’s been a long road with more ups than downs, and there was definitely a point in time that no one was sure we’d be here. But, as kids often do, they don’t show us what they’re really made of until it’s sure to catch us by surprise. It was uphill all the way, but the Perth Auto Dismantlers Atom A girls made it through the round robin play-down series to advance to the Provincial Playoffs on April 5,6, and 7. Playing against eternal rivals, Huron Heat and Saugeen Maitland Lightening, the girls took to the ice for a lengthy series, that I’ve also dubbed, the Arctic Arena series. Here’s how it all shook down.  

We won.

Play-offs, play-downs, who the hell knows, but the Perth Auto Dismantlers Atom A Aces took the Woolwich Wildcats to the edge and back where only Bruno Mars could describe the emotions the girls pulled out of the crowd in game 3.5, Sunday, February 17, 2019.  Shall we take a minute to appreciate Mars’ lyrics?

London Devilettes Tournament Feb 1-3, 2019   I just finished reading an article about why hiring a hockey player can be incredibly smart for a business owner. The article, written by a former NHL’er, outlined the qualities that make a hockey player a great employee. I thought it fitting to use as my outline for the tournament review. So, using that article as inspiration, here are his outlined characteristics and how I feel they were displayed this weekend.
