The Aces Hit The Road
The Perth Auto Dismantlers Atom A girls took to the road after a mid-season break to meet the Waterloo Ravens on Sunday December 09, followed by the Woodstock Wildcats on Wednesday December 12th.

The team struggled to perform at their optimal level while taking on the Ravens, losing in lengthy game, 4-1.

They knew they had to shake it off and prove their mettle when facing off against the powerful Wildcats and in true Aces fashion, they did just that…and then some.

In aging and frigid arena, the girls found themselves up against a rival, equal in speed and strength, but the Aces were full-up on determination and grit.

With a scoreless first period, coaches knew the second period was critical in that they needed a goal to shift the momentum.

The girls were relentless in their pressure on the net until on a pass out front from Emersyn Miller, Lila Mortimer connected and shot it home to pull the girls ahead, 1-0.

The goal gave the girls increased momentum and after putting the pressure on the Wildcats, Emersyn Miller was able to break away from their defense and find the back corner of the net, making the score 2-0 at the end of the second period.

The third period saw a lot of action, both in and out of the penalty box with goaltender, Grace Kipfer, solidly defending our lead, even when it meant using all parts of her body to stop a shot. Unfortunately, Woodstock pulled their goalie with a minute and a half to go, and the mad scramble that ensued saw the Wildcats find the net, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Aces, who pulled off the win, 2-1.

Next up, they continue their roadie with a much-anticipated match against St Thomas Panthers on Sunday.
