League play heats up in 2019
It’s about to get busy for the Perth Auto Dismantlers Atom A girls. Following their 2 week Christmas break, the girls started out a busy end of season month on the road in Waterloo’s RIM Park.

Looking to find redemption against the Ravens, the girls took off in the first few minutes of play, dominating the game. First up for the Aces, was Emersyn Miller, scoring at the 1-minute mark, unassisted.

Two minutes later, on a pass from Ella Taylor, Lila Mortimer found the 5-hole slot to pull the Aces ahead, 2-0.

The remainder of the game saw goalie, Grace Kipfer, deny the Ravens their chance at victory to claim the shutout.

The game saw considerable passing, board action and break-outs, proving the girls are ready to deliver what it will take to finish the month strong.

With a schedule designed to break the holiday sleep-in habit, the girls woke early again on the 6th, to take on the Ravens again.

It looked the Ravens had come to Stratford, ready for a rematch and vindication as the game began with a strong Raven offense. They were unable to beat goaltender, Sloan Cameron, during the first. Cameron denied all attempts by the Ravens to capture an early lead.

The second began in much the same way, with both teams trading ends, battling it out in front of the net, until Paige Campbell, on a perfect pass from defense, Avery Randall, flipped the puck up and over the goaltender’s shoulder to put the Aces up, 1-0.

Continuing to push the play forward, the Ravens broke out of their end with a consistent push towards the Aces net, where a rebounder found its home inside the Aces net.

The game would ultimately stay tied, 1-1, giving the girls a win and a tie in their first league play of 2019.

Next up, a mid-week game against the Woodstock Wildcats on Wednesday in Woodstock.
