On The Road Again...
The Perth Auto Dismantlers Atom A girls travelled a snowy highway 59 to take on the Woodstock Wildcats in a rare mid-week game. In a cold civic arena, the girls battled the powerful Wildcats. The game got off to a great start with a goal by Emersyn Miller, unassisted, followed quickly by a penalty for defenseman, Avery Randall after a powerful elbow to the opposing player, giving the Wildcats the opportunity to even the score at 1-1.

Miller came back on after the start of the second, to score the Ace’s second goal, assisted by defenseman, Emma Van Ness. The wild Wildcats, battle back to get another late in the second, evening the score at 2-2.

Heading into the third, both teams pulled out all the stops, until right winger, Lila Mortimer, drew a tripping penalty, giving the powerful Wildcat power play the chance to score late in the third, where the game would eventually land, 3-2 in favour of the Wildcats.

The week had only just begun for the atoms, as they travelled to the far reaches of Middlesex County, for an exciting Saturday night game. The fans, resigned to the fact that this is what their Saturday nights had come to, spent the night dancing in the change-overs, while cheering our girls on against the Ilderton Jets, in Komoka.

The game started out with both teams playing end to end, until on an arrow straight and strategic pass in from the corner from winger, Anne Nickel, that found centreman Lauren Leis, who sent the puck over to winger, Paige Campbell, who found net, getting the high scoring game off to a fantastic start.

The Jets, who were equally as jazzed by the arena music, answered the goal with one of their own, followed by another goal, mid-second period, pulling them ahead, 2-1. Centreman, Emersyn Miller, charged with the puck, alone and unassisted with only 1:30 left in the second, finding the back of the Jet’s net, evening up the score.

The rest of the game went much the same way, with three more goals coming from Miller, 2 unassisted and one assisted by winger, Paige Campbell.

The Aces finished the night with a fantastic win over the Jets, 5-2. But, their weekend was far from over.

The following morning, on a beautiful, sunny morning, FINALLY back at home in Stratford, the girls took on the London Devilettes in their final game of the week.

The Devilettes, itching for the chance to record a win heading into playoffs, came out guns-a-blazing, starting the scoring off with a rebound goal in the first, taking the score to a 1-0 point.

The remainder of the period went by in a blur of passing and dangles until late in the second, winger Jada Houban, on an assist from winger Eve Binns and centreman, Emersyn Miller, dug deep to come up with a goal, evening the game at 1-1.

Deciding the game really shouldn’t end in a tie, Emersyn Miller, brought the Aces ahead by 1, on another unassisted goal early in the third. The Devilettes, came back a few minutes later, to tie up the game, 2-2.

The Devilettes pulled their goalie and brought their super-fan, but neither could solidify their win, and the teams split the points with a tie, 2-2.

Next up for the Aces, a tournament on the 18th of January in Cambridge.
