ACES WIN GOLD
The parents were excited, the girls were primed, the Coaches were anxious…….  The referees were late……

The Perth Auto Dismantlers Novice B Aces were in Woodstock again today for the Championship, Gold Medal game against the Waterloo Ravens and didn’t let late referee’s dampen their mojo. In fact today’s cheer in the dressing room was. “Who’s gonna win, ACES. Who’s gonna lose, WATERLOOOOO”

Our daughters came to play with a love for the game that is not often witnessed.  What can I write that will portray the intensity of a game that goes 3 periods and 5 minutes of 3 on 3 overtime, scoreless and finally a shootout that ends with a win the for Aces? All against a team that is 4 positions ahead of us in division play! As one grandparent was quoted saying; “I’ve watched a lot of hockey and this game outshined even watching the Leafs play.”

Another quote by one of our trainers today, “Parents should be pretty proud of their daughters today. There were crashes, bruises, a couple that wanted to puke and nerves tested, but not once did they lose their cool or melt down. What they did was hold each other’s spirit together, focus on what they needed to get done, call up nerves of steel and get the job done.”

The shootout was also something new for our girls and they still faced it with courage and strength. The three shooters for the Aces were Tessa Burdett, Emersyn Miller and Lila Mortimer.  Sloan Cameron firmly defended our net stopping two of the three shooters for the win! The Ravens shot first but Tessa and Emersyn both found the back of the Ravens net for the Aces. Lila Mortimer was spared the pressure by Sloan’s timely saves.

Congratulations goes to Sloan Cameron for being voted game MVP by the Waterloo team and earning Ace of the Game.

Congratulations goes to Rachel Barber for earning Defensive Ace of the Game.

The Perth Auto Dismantlers Novice B Ace return to division play on Jan 10th @ 7:00pm against the top seed Huron Heat. Come out and watch cheer on our Champs!
