Determination Pays Off
The Perth Auto Dismantlers finished up Day 2 of the Woodstock Wildcats Tournament with two fantastic games against two of the top teams in their regular season division.

The first game was round robin play, with the Aces competing against the Waterloo Ravens for top spot heading into the semi-finals. The Aces started the scoring 25 seconds into the game when Paige Campbell beat the Ravens net minder, when she received a pass from Tessa Burdett on a rebound shot from Lila Mortimer. The second goal for the Aces came when Eve Binns, receiving another great pass from Tessa Burdett, skated past two Raven’s players and scored. The third and final goal for the Aces was scored by Tessa on a breakaway, midway through the second period.

The Aces defense were all strong in this pivotal game. Bronwyn Hawkins’ grit and speed allowed her to be everywhere to foil the Raven’s plays and Sloan Cameron’s sharp reflexes stopped more potential goals than could be counted. Unfortunately the Raven’s scored both the tying and go ahead goals in the third to beat the Aces 4-3.

Congratulations goes to Lila Mortimer for being voted game MVP by the Waterloo Team and earning the Ace of the Game.

Congratulations goes to Emma Van Nes for earning the Defensive Ace of the Game.

Entering the Semi-finals in second place the Aces again faced off against the third seed Woodstock Wildcats. The first period remained scoreless while both teams battled back and forth for dominance.  However, this was ended quickly in the second period when Paige Campbell stole the puck a found the right corner of the net on a breakaway. Tessa Burdett, true to form, dug deep and was able to find the energy to score two breakaway goals in the third period vaulting the Aces forward to a nail biting win.

Congratulations goes to Paige Campbell for being voted game MVP by the Woodstock Team and earning the Ace of the Game.

Also, congratulations to Tessa Burdett for earning the Defensive Ace of the Game.

The Perth Auto Dismantlers Novice B Aces head to the Championship game tomorrow at 12:45 @ the Woodstock Civic Center – Green Pad. Join us to cheer them on.
