Pink the Rink Tournament Builds Awareness and Confidence
The Dunny’s Source for Sports Atom C Stratford Aces travelled to Toronto this past weekend for the Pink the Rink tournament hosted by the Etobicoke Dolphins.

The tournament provided the girls with a chance to bond over the course of the three days.  Plenty of time in the pool, late night pizza and karaoke finished off a busy Friday!  The girls were left to wonder if overuse, or a duet by Coaches Darcy and Chris, resulted in a broken karaoke machine. A win on Saturday against the Goulbourn Rockets provided a couple of firsts.  Peyton Barclay scored her first ever goal as an Ace, and Katie Wheal had her first of the season as the Aces downed the Rockets 3-1!  Abby Iacobellis also scored in the victory while Cassidy Nelemans, and Cassie Richardson almost netted their first goals of the season. Special mention also goes out to Piper Broughton, who celebrated her birthday on the weekend, and for her effort was rewarded with player of the game Friday night. Birthday wishes also went out to Cassie Richardson on the weekend.
While the Aces went 1-3 on the weekend, their record did not indicate that they had two very tight games against the Nepean Wildcats.  This included a heartbreaking loss in the Sunday morning semi-final when the Wildcats scored with just 21 seconds left for a 2-1 win and a berth into the gold medal final. The Aces are off until next weekend, when they take on the Lucan Irish and the South Huron Sabres.
