Atom C Aces finish regular season with seven consecutive wins
Playing some of their best hockey of the season, the Dunny’s Source for Sports Atom C Aces stretched their league winning streak to seven games with a 2-0 win over the South Huron Sabers to close out the regular season.  The streak assured the Aces of a second place finish in the WOGHL Division I standings, allowing them to play for the league championship when playoffs begin.

Since the Christmas break all facets of the Aces game have improved. Led by the stellar goaltending of Peyton Boyles-Keating, the Aces have only given up four goals in their last seven games while scoring 18 on the opposition over the same span.  Stalwart defending has created offensive opportunities for the forwards.  Defenders have progressed from simple breakouts, to moving the puck efficiently through the neutral zone.  While in the offensive zone, the defensemen have done a great job of holding the offensive zone leading to an increased time of possession.   Offensively, improved skating has led to more balanced scoring. The aggressive forechecking by the line of Paige Taylor, Piper Broughton and Cassie Richardson has been infectious, with all three lines now forechecking down low in the offensive zone, forcing turnovers and creating chances.  Centres Katelynn and Krista McMahon have both developed a blistering shot and each has scored a number of goals over the streak.   The Aces are playing with confidence and peaking as they head they into provincial and league play downs.  To quote Coach Darcy, “We are in for a hectic, fun and exciting stretch of hockey”.
