Aces Work Their Magic
On Wednesday evening the Sommers Generator Systems Stratford Aces hit the road to Wilmot to play the undefeated Wolverines. The pace for this game was extremely fast with great chances at each end of the rink but the high flying Aces tamed the ferocious Wolverines, out playing them up and down the ice and out shooting them 25-9.
On Wednesday evening the Aces hockey parents braved the treacherous traffic through Shakespeare to get their athletes to Wilmot arena for a tilt against the undefeated Wilmot Wolverines. Both teams hit the ice flying but Wilmot soon ran into penalty trouble with 2 girls in the box, 3 minutes remaining in the first. Stratford had a 5-3 powerplay and the shooting gallery opened up but the Wolverine goalie found a way to tame the onslaught from the aces. The second period the Wolverines seemed to bounce back a little but Ella Gracey swayed the pendulum right back into Stratford's favor coming up with a huge glove save. The Aces were very dominant throughout the game right down to the nod Floody and Campbell give to each other before winning faceoff draws. The third period was when the Aces worked their magic. The always dangerous Wolverines rushed down the ice to let a hard wrister go from the top of the circle when Kiara McGregor's pants blocked the shot and magically made the puck disappear! McGregor made several attempts to dislodge the puck almost like she was dancing to Shawn Mendes's latest tune but the puck was gone and the refs had to whistle down the play. Kiara then took her glove off of her left hand and made the puck re-appear in said hand as she skated to center ice leaving the fans in awe. The game ended in one of the greatest, most exciting 0-0 draws the Aces have had this year. Ella Gracey earned the shutout for the Aces coming up big with her glove several times throughout the game.
The coaching staff has the Stratford Aces firing on all cylinders as they approach a 3 game weekend at home.
