Aces Down Wolverines In A Battle Of The Titans Exhibition Game

Wolverines are preparing for the Lower Lakes Championship Weekend and for Provincials
with some home and away exhibition action.
The Dogfight Aerobatics of the Aces began on Sunday morning as they hosted the Wilmot Wolverines. The first period was the typical fast paced, hard nosed hockey that both power houses demonstrate on quite a regular basis but the Wolverines were able to strike first with a hard wrister, hot off the right wing that went bar down. The Aces fired back a few minutes later when Aveleen Flood split the Wolverine defensemen and beat the goalie with a sneaky release to the low corner. Kiara McGregor and McKenzie Parsons picked up the apples on the Floody goal. Stratford got the go ahead goal in the second period when Olivia VanStraaten feathered a pass to Floody for a shot and McGregor was on the doorstep bang home the rebound. The Aces were able to keep the Wolverines in check in the third with only a few close calls but Aces goaltender Grace Kipfer was at the ready, denying Wilmot of any chance to tie the game up. The Aces took the first game 2-1 and look forward to another big exhibition game in Wilmot on March 17.
