Write it down, Pens nets winner in London!
On a day when fundamentals were missing the Stratford Aces Peewee A team still found a way to win despite only scoring in the first 1:20 of the game.  A Friday night after a long week of Cross Country and a travel seemed to leave mental lapses however a skilled squad made up for those to secure an important early season two points.

The second shift of the game saw all of the Aces scoring. Rayne Bowden picked up a stray puck just inside the Aces blueline as London began a shift.  Seeing that and wanting a change herself Bowden chipped the puck around the Devilette forechecker sending Kennedy McGregor 1 on 1 on a Devilette defender.  McGregor blew by the Devilette and finished forehand backhand to open the scoring just before the game was a minute old.

The puck dropped and the Aces went right back to work deep in the Devilette zone.  Before the celebrations of the first goal had ended Madi Cardno dug the puck out to McGregor who was turned away by the Devilette keeper but Raelyn Pennington poked the loose puck into the back of the net to give the Aces a two goal lead.

The dreaded two goal early lead led to the Aces sitting back some and the Devilettes got themselves back in the game with a late second period goal.  The third period saw the Aces dominate in shots and puck possession but nothing tangible came of that as the Devilette goalie turned all eight third period shots aside.  The closest the Aces would get was a Jesse Dietrich shot that rang off the cross bar.  Late in the frame Avery Wildgust, Reese Reinecker and Briar Slattery came close with a shift that ended with the puck being covered on the goal line.

Chelsea Savelle was tremendous in this game and if she had any puck luck would have had two.  Determined skating and getting to the net was the recipe for her chances that were made with help from her linemates Lauren Taylor and Kayla Weiringa.

Playing one short on defence there was plenty of ice for Keira Dietz, Reese Ostryznick and Olivia Brock in front of Paige Willie who tended the pipes for the Aces.  Willie turned aside 9 of 10 shots allowing a rebound goal while improving her win total.  Willie's best save was in the first period when she made a nice glove stop on a shot going short side.

In all a 2-1 win to improve their regular season record to 3-0-0 and keep the line moving as they head into a contest in London against a tough fast minor team.
