Aces find a way against Bluewater

The Stratford Dunny Peewee A Aces hit home ice 4 days after playing 6 in 3 in Rochester against the Bluewater Hawks.  The Aces were not their sharpest in this contest with fatigue perhaps setting in on a weeknight game after being so busy the previous week.  Still the Aces found a way to put one more in Bluewater's net then the other way around and that had the Aces back in the win column.

Paige Willie was in net for the Aces and was the Aces best player in the game.  After the Aces had built a three goal lead heading into the third the Hawks scored twice early in the third before Willie shut the door the rest of the way allowing the Aces to hold on for a 3-2 win.

The Aces looked for a while like they may run away and hide with this one after scoring two goals in the opening frame and one more in the second before putting the game on cruise control.  Kayla Wieringa opened the scoring after hard work by Chelsea Savelle from behind the Hawk net put the puck in the crease allowing Wieringa to tap home a loose puck from the right side of the net.  Just one minute later Briar Slattery at the end of a shift put a tape to tape pass on Avery Wildgust stick in the neutral zone.  Wildgust streaked down the left side with power and backhanded the puck five hole to make it 2-0 Aces.

In the second period Lauren Taylor scored the eventual game winner when she grabbed the puck just inside the Aces blue line an made a nice individual effort past the Hawk defenceman before deking the goalie and finishing on the backhand to go up 3-0.

The third period was not the ladies finest however they were able to find a way to not let the equalizer go in and a valuable two points was earned.  The Aces had one day off before facing the London Devilette Minors on Saturday November 12.
