Strong Second Period Propels Aces to Win
After shaking off the rust from a two week lay-off on Saturday the Dunny Peewee A Aces were back in action on Saturday facing the London Minors in London.  The Aces were led by Kennedy Caldwell in net who was tested early as the London team dominated the first five minutes of play against a sleepy Stratford team.

Caldwell was forced into action early with a break-away mere seconds into the game but she held her ground and stopped a flurry of early shots allowing her skaters to get their legs around her.  The Aces defence rebounded nicely and played a solid game the last two thirds in front of their goaltender and slowly the Aces began to tilt the ice in their favour.

The second period in particular was all Aces and saw both Aces goals hit the score board.  The first goal was one of the season's highlight reels.  Avery Wildgust spotted Reese Reinecker breaking out of the Aces end and fed her a pass which Reinecker wasted little time getting the puck over to Raelyn Pennigton who sprung up the ice with determination using her body to position the puck on the outside and drive the Devilette goal.  Briar Slattery had jumped into the play on a line change and went to the net as Pennigton forced her way in close for a shot that was stopped on the backhand by the London goalie (who was excellent in this game).  The rebound slid across the front of the net to Slattery who slapped at the puck however it somehow stayed out but found its way right back to Pennigton's stick and she one timed into the back of the cage for a 1-0 lead and a hard work tally.

Towards the end of the frame the Aces were rewarded once again when Kayla Wieringa and Kennedy McGregor teamed up to get the puck to Reinecker who potted her second in as many days making the score 2-0.  The teams traded some chances in the third with the Aces having a slight edge in scoring chances but solid goaltending by both teams netminders kept the score at 2-0 as the final buzzer sounded.

With the win the Aces sit 2 points out of top spot in the LLFHL divisional standings with two games in hand on the divisional leaders Lakeshore.  As always the Aces would like to thanks all of their sponsors and supporters as they continue to develop this season.  The Aces have a busy week ahead with three games next weekend including home tilts on Saturday at 12pm and Sunday at 5pm.  Both home games are at the Rotary and the Aces hope to see you out cheering them on.
