Novice Aces Weekend of Firsts!
The Perth Auto Dismantlers Novice B Aces took their show on the road this weekend grabbing two very important wins. On Saturday, the girls were in South Huron where they played a dominant game winning 6-1. Emersyn Miller opened the scoring taking eight seconds from puck drop to hitting the back of the net. Anne Nickel scored the second goal with an assist from Paige Campbell. The third goal was scored by Cassandra Richardson’s, her first as an Ace, getting assists from Miller and Taylor. The forth goal was scored by Ella Taylor with helpers from her line mates Miller and Nickel. The fifth ended was sniped from the point by Lila Mortimer, and Tessa Burdett finished the offensive onslaught.

In game two of their road trip, the Novices took their momentum into Kitchener. The game was a fantastic display of competition with both teams working hard to control the puck and take the advantage. The Aces were first to strike with Abby Iacobellis taking care of business in front of the net on a pass from Tessa Burdett and Anne Nickel. The second goal came from Ella Talyor with the assist from Cassandra Richardson. As the third period started, Eve Binns, Paige Taylor and Rachael Barber all had great opportunities but were turned away by a very strong Kitchener goalie. The final nail in the coffin came late in the third with Iacobellis pouncing on another opportunity in front of the net scoring her second goal of the night producing her first multiple goal game as an Ace and earning her Ace of the Game honours.

The offensive opportunities over the weekend could not have happened without solid defensive plays by Emma Van Nes, Bronwyn Hawkins, Peyton Barclay, Teresa Schuster and Lila Mortimer. The defensive group used their speed and perseverance to keep the action in the opposition’s zone. Both goalies, Sloan Cameron and Marta Rintoul put on solid performances putting up a wall when needed.
