The Egg Farmers of Ontario Atom B Aces went undefeated this weekend to capture the gold at the Stratford Aces Festival Cup Challenge.
Their first game was a hard fought 2-1 win against Twin Centres with the first goal by Sydnie Miller and an assist by Mia Kuepfer and the other goal by Kuepfer with an assist by Danielle Bast and Miller. Game two against St. Thomas was also a 2-1 win for the Aces with both goals scored by Sydnie Miller and assists by Kuepfer and Jesse Dietrich. In game three against Wilmot, Hailey Goforth opened the scoring with an assist from Addison Moir. Reese Reinecker and Sydnie Miller each scored with assists by Goforth and Kuepfer. Game four against Chatham secured the Aces a spot in the finals with a 7- 0 win. Mia Kuepfer had a hat trick as well as an assist with additional goals by Olivia Chartrand, Mihret Eliasziw, Miller and Goforth and assists by Avery Wildgust, Amelia Saunders, Lauren Taylor, Moir, Kuepfer and Miller. In the championship game on Sunday afternoon, the Aces faced Wilmot for the second time in the tournament. The team was firing on all cylinders, and goals by Goforth, Kuepfer and Eliasziw secured a 3-1 victory with assists by Lauren Gibb and Sydnie Miller. Goalies, Emma Ivey and Courtney Lott, were both impressive between the pipes all weekend, and Anika Akroyd-Snider and Adriana Danen were formidable on defence. Congratulations to Sydnie Miller who was named MVP and to the Atom B players and coaching staff for a fantastic tournament.
