Two Game Weekend
The Atom B Aces played a home and home series with the Lucan Irish this weekend.
The girls faced off against the Irish at home Saturday at the Allman arena. The Aces were in tough from the initial puck drop in a game that had a quick pace and a lot of neutral zone play. The line of Mihret Eliasziw, Olivia Chartrand and Avery Wildgust played a solid two-way game and had some good offensive chances. The defense core shut the door with great puck movement by Danielle Bast, Lauren Gibb, Jesse Dietrich and Anika Akroyd-Snider. All the girls battled hard, and despite some good scoring chances by the Aces, the game finished in a 0-0 tie - another shut-out for goalie, Courtney Lott.
On Sunday evening the girls traveled to Lucan for the second game of the weekend. The play was back and forth early until the line of Reese Reinecker, Addison Moir and Hailey Goforth sparked the offense with some solid pressure and checking, ending with a nice top shelf goal by Hailey. The offense continued with some persistent offensive zone puck control by Sydnie Miller and Mia Kuepfer resulting in two more goals in the net courtesy of Lauren Taylor. The scoring was capped off by Hailey Goforth's second goal of the night. Once again the defense core limited the opposition scoring chances with another good outing by the defense duo of Adriana Danen and Amelie Saunders. The Aces were victorious in the end, 4-1.
