Oktoberfest Tournament Champions!
The Atom B Aces continued their winning ways this weekend in the Kitchener Oktoberfest tournament. The girls went undefeated in round robin play, finishing first place in their pool. They had wins over Windsor, West Huron, Bluewater and Kitchener.
On Sunday morning, the girls matched up against the Windsor Wildcats in the semi-finals. The Aces took charge from the opening face-off and never looked back, winning the game 9-0. It was a great offensive effort by all three lines, led by Mia Kuepfer with the hat-trick. The defense core controlled the play in our own end and limited the opposition to very few scoring chances - goalies Courtney Lott and Emma Ivey shared the shut-out.
The team went on to play the West Huron Wave in the championship game Sunday afternoon. The game had a very fast pace, forcing the girls to be quick on their feet and to complete good passes. Once again, all three lines contributed to a well-balanced offense and solid defense, on route to a 4-0 win capturing the championship. Hailey Goforth was named MVP of the championship game and earned a new pair of Bauer skates. All the girls won a new stick courtesy of Bauer, and proudly wore their well-deserved gold medals. Congratulations girls on a superb tournament!
