Stratford faces Saugeen Lightning
The Optimist Club of Downie Midget A Aces broke even with the Saugeen Maitland Lightning, 2-2, last night in girls hockey action. The tough Saugeen team scored both goals early in the game, but the Aces managed to shut down the Lightning for nearly two full periods after that. Stratford fought back from their two goal deficit with a goal by Taegan Haynes on a nice pass from Nicole Marriage from behind the Saugeen net. Marriage come through again with a goal later that period, from Emily Patterson. The Stratford defence and goaltender, Megan Jackson, did well to fight off the Saugeen dominance as the shots on net were almost double that of the Aces.
