Aces vs. Lightning
The Downie Optimist Midget A Aces fell 1-0 to the Saugeen Maitland Lightning in a fiesty battle, last weekend. The Aces played hard in a penalty filled contest with the Lightning, despite having two of their goals called off by the Saugeen referees.  Stratford never gave up as they came close in the third period but couldn't sink one that counted.

The Midget A Aces met  Saugeen-Maitland on home ice this weekend determined to outshine the Lightning this time.  Saugeen was the first to score late in the second period.  Stratford replied early in the third on a goal by Jaime Van Nes, assisted by Jessica Barton.  Three minutes later, Saugeen snuck one in past the keeper. The Aces responded a couple of minutes later to tie the game thanks to Caroline McDowell's goal, assisted by Nicole Marriage. The Aces ended the game tied at 2-2. Megan Jackson was solid in net as she was kept busy throughout both of the Saugeen games. The Aces will now face the Lightning in Provincial Playdowns.
