Cameron and Flanagan Help Novice C's Sink Lakers
Aces Have Now Defeated All Division 3 Teams

The Wallaceburg Lakers rode into Stratford Sunday with the confidence of having taken the first two games in their first two meeting with the Aces this season. Being six points back of division leaders the BAD Blazers the Aces came determined to change that.

The Aces took to the ice under the direction of coach John Hruden and maintained their focus of discipline, positional play, and team passing that has been the hallmark of their constant improvement throughout this year. The game began in end to end fashion proving to the crowd that these teams were evenly matched.  Midway through the first a pinching Brinlee Wall tested the Lakers iron and rattled a face-off dot shot off the Lakers goal post setting the stage for more firepower to come. In the second, the Aces got to work.  Chippy and determined play behind the laker net by Ace forward Jule Cameron earned her the opening goal by hammering the puck out from behind the net that took a deflection into the Laker goal.  The Lakers, determined not to lose this match stepped up to start testing Ace netminder Reece Flanagan.  With her paddle and pads ready to be firmly on the ice, Flanagan stopped three clear Laker breakaways point blank and kept the score 1-0.  The Lakers kept up the pressure late into the third as Flanagan could rely on the positional play of her defense to clear the puck out the zone, relieving the Laker pressure.  A late game insurance breakaway goal set up by Cadence McKee to Jule Cameron sealed the Lakers fate and gave the Aces their 8th win, their 3rd straight, putting them 4 point behind the Blazers who they host Saturday at the Rbc arena.  With 3 games left in the season the division title is still within reach for this determined Ace group.
