Aces Earn Silver at Home
The Stratford Accumetal Bantam A Aces were runners up in their division at the Stratford Aces Festival Cup Challenge held here in "River City" this past weekend.

A pair of wins on Friday got things off to a good start. The early game was a 2 to 1 win against the Bluewater Hawks. The nightcap was a 4 to 2 victory against another team of Hawks from Hamilton.

In their Saturday morning game against the Brampton Canadettes the Aces carried the play for much of the game and came away with a 2 to 1 win. A late goal in the evening game against the Wilmot Wolverines earned the Aces a 1 to 1 tie but was enough to put them in first place at the end of pool play.

Sunday saw two set of Aces jerseys on the same rink with the Bantam A's eliminating the Bantam BB's in a spirited 3 to 1 game. This set up a rematch in the final game between Stratford and their first game opponents, the Bluewater Hawks. Bluewater played an excellent game at both ends of the ice to earn the tournament crown with a convincing 5 to 1 win (Thanks for breaking the bagel though Brook!).

Overall the Stratford Bantam A's ended up with a record of 4 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie with 13 goals for and 11 goals against in their 6 games.

Team members (and tournament scoring G/A) include:
Goaltenders Megan Arnold and Ella Wouters
Defensemen Avery Boyes, Tarha Keen (1/0), Stacey Shackleton, Sara Campbell (0/1) and Olivia Galloway
Forwards Joanna Van De Walle (1/1), Abby Gilchrist (1/1), Ally Muir (1/0), Mikayla Flanagan (1/1), Brooklyn Rau (4,2), Kate Schneider (1/0), Rachel Nash (0/1), Kenzie Dietrich (1/1) and Madi Smith (2/2)
Injured but there in a supporting role was Jessica Blowes.

Hope you are feeling better today Kenzie and that you aren't off the ice for too long!
