The Stratford Egg
Farmers of Ontario Atom Aces had an opportunity this past Saturday to attend a
Toronto Furies game. This was a chance for the Aces to cheer on their coach,
Ms. Emily Fulton who plays for the Furies. The Aces fans sat in the front row,
right beside the Furies bench. When
Emily’s name was introduced as a starter, the Atom girls filled the rink with
loud cheers. The game was very exciting for the fans as the Furies battled hard
against a strong Calgary Inferno team.
The Aces were in awe at the skill and speed in which the Furies team was able to play. The experience for the Atom girls was not only fun but also motivational. They were exposed to some of the best female hockey players in the works including many sat and future Olympians. There are many exciting opportunities developing in women’s hockey and watching this game and meeting the players provided our young women strong role models who exemplify how hard work and perseverance could allow them to play on a professional team one day.
After the game the Toronto Furies invited the Aces into their dressing room to meet the team, take photographs, and sign autographs. The smiles on the girls’ faces could be seen from Stratford and the experience is one the girls will remember forever. A very heart-felt thank you goes out to Emily Fulton and the Toronto Furies team for the opportunity of a lifetime! “The bigger you dream, the bigger you play…own the moment” (Bauer Hockey).
