The Stratford Egg Farmers of Ontario Atom A
Aces played home and away games against the Guelph Jr. Gryphons over the
holidays. Unfortunately, the girls were not successful on the scoreboard but on
the plus side, they experienced triumph in team development, finding multiple
ways to come together and play until the final buzzer went, regardless of the
score.
The first game had the Aces showing grit and determination throughout the entire game. On this day, Lady Luck did not contribute and the bounces ended up on the opposition's sticks far too often. The Atom A’s, who have been playing short-handed on Defence since before Christmas, welcomed back Belle Houle who showed no signs of rust, playing good defensive games. In their second game, the girls showed some signs of fatigue - possibly due to some New Years celebrations - but they found determination in the third period and finished the game "Stratford Strong", outplaying the Gryphons for the final 12 minutes. Goalies Keira Akey and Mia Morris played very good games with both girls making acrobatic saves, trying to keep their team within striking distance. Over the holidays the girls experienced both highs and lows but showed they can compete with anybody in the league. Keep at it, Aces!
