Bantam Aces Tournament Result
The Stratford Aces, Bantam A, Accumetal squad participated in their home tournament this past weekend reaching the semi-final match.
The team lost a heart-breaking battle 1 – nil to Lucan Irish who scored the game winning goal early in the third period. Rylee Kaufman played well in net for Stratford. Carly Wouters earned game MVP. In opening round robin play the Aces let a two goal lead slip away in the third period against Kitchener, falling to the tournament champions, 3 – 2. Alicia Young and Jocelyn Ballantyne were the goal scorers with Clodagh Weber earning the lone assist in the match. Goaltender Aliya McNeil earned the game MVP award. Game two saw Stratford battle the Irish to a scoreless match. Rylee Kaufman earned the shutout for the Aces as well as the MVP award for her outstanding goaltending. Stratford defeated West Northumberland 3 – 0 in the final round robin game. Liv Charette opened the scoring for Stratford with Carly Wouters and Ballantyne adding insurance markers. Tessa Deighton and Leah Matthews had an assist each. Aliya McNeil earned the shutout. Matthews was chosen game MVP.
