Dunny’s Source for Sports Peewee A Aces were eliminated in the Semi-Final game by the eventual Tournament Champions London Devilettes. On Friday Stratford met up with Mississauga Chiefs and although the team played extremely well and

completely controlled the game the Mississauga goalie stole the show and the result was a 1-1 tie. Jocelyn Ballantyne scored the lone goal for Stratford assisted by Kelsey Dixon and Kaitlyn Mathieson. Stratford’s second game of the day was against the London Devilettes. Stratford opened the scoring on a goal by Alexa Horne on a great feed from Kelsey Dixon. London quickly replied less than a minute later to tie the game at one a piece. Stratford took the lead again on a goal from Laura Chapman with assists going to Jocelyn Ballantyne and Carly Wouters. London tied the game with 1:38 to play in the second. The third period saw back and forth action with London taking the lead at the 2:28 mark. Stratford tied the game with 28 seconds to go on Alexa Horne’s second goal of the game as she put in the rebound on Leah Mathew’s point shot. Saturday saw Stratford meet the Lucan Irish for game three of the round robin play. The first period had no scoring but Lucan jumped out to a 3 goal lead in the second period.  Stratford drew to within 2 with 13 seconds to play in the second on Alexa Horne’s third goal of the tournament with an assist to Kelsey Dixon. Laura Chapman brought the Aces to within one with 4 minutes to play with helpers going to Dixon and Carly Wouters, but that is as close as they would get. On Sunday Stratford met London in the semi-finals and the opportunity to advance. Stratford took the lead near the end of the first on a great end to end rush from Carly Wouters. London tied the game with 13 seconds to go in the first when a tired Stratford squad failed to clear the zone after repeated tries. London jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the second period with Stratford tying the game up 3 minutes later on a great shot from Jocelyn Ballantyne. London went ahead for good at 9:15 of the third period with Stratford running into penalty trouble in the last minutes of the third preventing the comeback and ending their hopes of advancement.
