Dunny’s Source for Sports Peewee A Aces played 2nd place Waterloo Ravens on Saturday at the Rotary Complex and faced 8th place Kitchener Lady Rangers on Sunday at the William Allman Arena. Stratford jumped out to an early 2 goal lead with goals from Jocelyn Ballantyne and Kelsey Dixon.
Laura Chapman and Dixon had the assist on the first goal. Stratford added to their lead in the second on Ballantyne’s second goal of the game assisted by Carly Wouters and Laura Chapman. Waterloo cut the lead to two goals in the second period, but 7 minutes into the third Stratford put the game away on Ballantyne’s third of the game with the assist going to Kelsey Dixon. Stratford played an extremely strong defensive game with excellent performances from forwards Erin Kuepfer and Megan Rauser, and defensemen Tessa Deighton, Leah Matthews and Taylor Powell helping Rylee Kaufman preserve the 4-1 win. Sunday saw Stratford again jump out to a 2 goal lead on two goals from Kelsey Dixon, with an assist on the second goal to Carly Wouters. Kitchener drew within one in the third period only to be answered one minute later when Dixon completed the natural hat trick on an assist from Tessa Deighton. Kitchener drew closer mid way through the third period, but Stratford quickly answered again on a blast from the point from Eden Lalonde assisted by Anna Mohr. Creasyn Jordan shut the door the rest of the way to move Stratford back into first place in the LLHL Peewee A division with the 4-2 win.
