Notes
The Downie Optimist Midget A Aces started their season strong with a silver medal finish at the Oakville Harvest Classic Tournament this past weekend. In a pool of 24 Midget A teams, the Aces dominated with a 5-1-0 record leading into the final game on Sunday evening. The ladies came out of the gates on Friday afternoon and played to a 2-2 tie against the Nepean Wildcats. From that point on, each game they played was a nail biter, with no more than a 2 goal differential each game....but each game in favour of the Aces. They even came out victorious in a shoot out in the quarter final elimination game. Despite playing a few players short for a few of the games, the Aces continued to bond as a team and pulled of 5 straight wins after their first game tie. This landed them in the seventh and final game on Sunday evening. Despite being exhausted and completely drained, the ladies played with heart and determination, and came out with the silver medal. Goal scorers from the week-end included Hailey Goforth, Sydney Dajka, Lily Daum, Hailey Scott, Ally Muir, and Neely Clarke. Goal tenders Kayley Thompson and Ella Wouters played fantastic games. Congratulations Midget A Aces!!
