Egg Farmers of Ontario Bantam BB, U15, 2018-2019 (Stratford Aces Girls Hockey)

The Egg Farmers of Ontario Bantam BB team have spent the last few weeks knee deep in Lower Lakes playoff action.  Their first opponent - the Windsor Wildcats - battled hard forcing the Aces to go to three games to decide the winner.  Round two saw the Aces face off against the Huron Heat.  In what provided to be an exciting and hard fought series, the Bantam BB girls came out on top, eliminating the Heat and securing their spot into round 3 and the West division final.  Last week in game one in the small, cold Brussels arena, Stratford came out on top of the tight checking game. The Stratford Aces Bantam BB girls team have enjoyed a winning streak in their last 10 games but stepped away from the ice this weekend to spend some time giving back.  The team collectively created three beautiful shoeboxes to donate to the London Shoebox Project for Women.  The program distributes gift-filled Shoeboxes to women impacted by homelessness in communities across Canada.  Each Shoebox is filled with items that can enhance self-esteem and reduce feelings of isolation for women in need.

The Stratford Bantam BB girls team, sponsored by the Egg Farmers of Ontario, won the Festival Cup this weekend with conviction.  The team managed four wins and a tie over the weekend to clinch their second tournament win. But it didn't come easy and without significant effort from every player.  After the final buzzer, an elated coach Tigani stated "Five games with zero goals against is a testament to the goalie, defense and the team buying into a total defensive posture. We took care of our end first."

The Bantam BB Aces, sponsored by the Egg Farmers of Ontario, kicked off their Lower Lakes season Thanksgiving weekend with a 0 - 0 tie against Lambton and lost an exhibition game to the Huron Heat 4 - 3.  The team then made the trek to Windsor Sat Oct 13th for their first battle with Windsor.  Stratford scored an early power play goal from Leah Yantzi then Jordie Smith added to the lead with a beautiful breakaway goal.  Early in the third, Sadie Long sealed the deal for the Aces - final score 3-0.  Madelyn Mortimer recorded the shutout in net.
