Bantam BB Aces Give Back
The Stratford Aces Bantam BB girls team have enjoyed a winning streak in their last 10 games but stepped away from the ice this weekend to spend some time giving back.  The team collectively created three beautiful shoeboxes to donate to the London Shoebox Project for Women.  The program distributes gift-filled Shoeboxes to women impacted by homelessness in communities across Canada.  Each Shoebox is filled with items that can enhance self-esteem and reduce feelings of isolation for women in need.

This team is making an impact both on and off the ice.  Until last evening's close 1-0 loss to Bluewater, the Aces had gone undefeated in their last ten games, with seven wins and three ties, including four league wins at home in eight days. The team, sponsored by the Egg Farmers of Ontario, currently sits in second place.  Some of the highlights over the last few weeks include a 5 - 2 win over Windsor with Leah Yantzi, Alyssa Eidt and Eve Greig all notting one and Jordie Smith sealing the finish with 2 goals late in the third. In a midweek encounter with London, Stratford came out flying and dominated puck possession but found themselves down 1 - 0 early.  Thanks to the resourcefulness and quick feet of Eve Greig, a quick wrist shot tied the game early in the second period.  By the third the team had their legs under them and came out strong with Nicole Simmons scoring two and Smith adding another to make the final score 4-1.  The success on the ice can be attributed to the entire team putting out maximum effort in every game and practice.
