Bantam BB Playoff Action!
The Egg Farmers of Ontario Bantam BB team have spent the last few weeks knee deep in Lower Lakes playoff action.  Their first opponent - the Windsor Wildcats - battled hard forcing the Aces to go to three games to decide the winner.  Round two saw the Aces face off against the Huron Heat.  In what provided to be an exciting and hard fought series, the Bantam BB girls came out on top, eliminating the Heat and securing their spot into round 3 and the West division final.  Last week in game one in the small, cold Brussels arena, Stratford came out on top of the tight checking game. Alyssa Eidt tapped in a goal in a scramble in front of the net and Nicole Simmons scored an empty net goal.  The Heat responded with a game 2 win, forcing a deciding game.  In the elimination game in Clinton on Sunday, Stratford gave up an early goal on the first shift of the game on a rocket to the top corner. The girls didn't give up and started to gain some momentum with some steady pressure and good scoring chances. Finally Stratford was rewarded when Meg Feore snuck the puck short side on the goalie. The game remained tied until midway through the third period when Simmons fired a shot and Eidt buried the rebound. Goaltender Madeline Mortimer stood tall the rest of the way making numerous clutch saves. The team worked together and were successful in holding off the Heats pressure until the end. Stratford will now take on Lakeshore in the final round.  In provincial playdown action, the Aces were eliminated from provincials by the same Huron Heat team last Saturday in yet another hard fought game.
