Friday’s Provincial Tournament opener for the Aces resulted in a 3 – 3 tie with the Bellville Bearcats.

Belleville opened the scoring but Joanna Van de Walle buried a Kate Schneider rebound to bring the Aces even. Seconds before the end of the first period, the Bearcats pulled ahead again.
Stratford potted a pair of quick goals in the second period to take the lead. Stacey Shackleton deposited a rebound from an Abby Debus shot. Then, less than a minute later Van De Walle walked out of the corner and went bunk over the shoulder of the Bellville goaltender.
Stratford was assessed 5 minor penalties in the third period and eventually gave up the tying goal with 2:42 left in the period.
