Stratford stings Sarnia
Submitted By MMaguire on Monday, December 3, 2012
The Optimist Club of Downie Midget A Aces faced a two game showdown with the Sarnia Sting this weekend.  At home on Saturday, the Aces were first to strike with a goal by Taylor Woodhouse from Taegan Haynes in the first period.  Stratford demonstrated strong offensive pressure throughout the game.  Megan Jackson came through with some key saves to keep the lead, but a forceful Sting would not give up until they scored.  Sarnia managed to pull of a tie with 4 seconds left on the clock.

The Midget A Aces travelled to Sarnia Sunday intent on victory in the second game of the showdown.  Sarnia sent in a blistering slapshot from the point in the second period to take the lead.  The Aces rallied back with four unanswered goals through great teamwork on the ice.  Nicole Marriage led the offence with two goals and Taegan Haynes and Shannon Jewitt notched singles. Aden Green, Caroline McDowell and Katelyn Hawkins earned assists.
