Opening Weekend
Some tough lessons in the first weekend of the season. After an excellent effort in the Mitchell tournament the team was excited to get the season going on a overnight west coast swing that took us to Sarnia & Windsor. Unfortunately we found out that the competition in our league is drastically different from top to bottom. On the Saturday we were in tough against a strong Sarnia team missing Megan Arnold & Rebekkah Phibbs to illness. We lost the opener 11-1. Ella Wouters gave us a great effort stopping 20 shots. Sophie Bogdon also gave us a strong effort being moved from D to the wing for the game.
Sunday afternoon we had a much closer game against Windsor who is a evenly matched opponent. We lost 1-0 on a late 3rd period goal. Megan Arnold played excellent in goal. Maddie McKinley had a strong weekend on defence.
This coming weekend will test us as well with Sarnia returning on Saturday then St. Thomas comes in on Monday night. It will be nice for the girls to play at home for the first time.
