Seasons end
The Stratford Nutrition House Atom C Aces traveled to Toronto this past weekend to compete in the Provincial Championships. Stratford was in a pool consisting of Sarnia, Nepean & North Bay.

Stratford opened the tournament against Nepean on Friday morning and despite a good team effort Nepean snuck one past netminder Ella Wouters late in the third period. Nepean took the game 1-0.

Friday afternoon Stratford played Sarnia. Stratford jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period on goals by Neely Clarke & Jessica Blowes. Sarnia then pushed back hard in the second period getting one goal back. The third period brought a hard fought period with chances at both ends. Sarnia received a powerplay with three minutes remaining. During the powerplay in a scramble in the slot Sarnia found a way to bang one in past netminder Megan Arnold. The game ended in a 2-2 tie.

Saturday afternoon Stratford played North Bay. This game once again featured a balanced competitive effort between both teams. The game remained tied after the first. North Bay scored the games loan goal in the second. Stratford had multiple chances in the third to tie the game but just couldn't get one past the North Bay tender. The game ended 1-0 in favour of North Bay.

The theme of the weekend unfortunately was a lack of goal scoring for the girls. Stratford coaches believe they were in the toughest division and believe all teams in the division were equally matched. Stratford & North Bay failed to move on from round robin pool play. Sarnia & Nepean moved on and were undefeated in the playoffs and met in the gold medal game where Sarnia won 2-1.

Each and every girl on the team should hold their head high with the never give up attitude they displayed throughout the year and this weekend. I am extremely proud of each and every player for their dedication and hard work put in throughout the year.

I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable summer.
