Game 5 - Real Aces show up to flatten Owen Sound 6-0

The two wins and one tie in the round robin play was good enough to put the Aces in second place heading into Sunday.  This resulted in a rematch against the Ice Hawks from Owen Sound who were probably feeling pretty confident after their 1-1 tie with the Aces in game 2.  However, the Aces showed that the previous game was a fluke and continued their habit of stepping up to a new level on Sundays.  The girls came out flying and Lindy Downham, Jilian Rossi worked together to get the puck to Olivia Wilemsen who delivered to put the Aces up 1-0 early.  It didn't stop there with a sublime pass from Avery Canal out front to Liv to make it 2-0.  It was then Kaitlyn Green's turn to shine as she stole the puck at her own blue line, drove down ice to the net and left the goalie bewildered as she deked her to make it 3-0.  Adella Feller made a fantastic kick save to keep the donut on the board to end the first.  Rossi slid a nice pass over to Glitz who displayed a sharp shot to make it 4-0.  The girls apparently wanted to make it clear that the tie was an anomaly and kept pouring it on.  Liv corralled the puck, took a nice shot and the rebound was there for Canal who knocked it in for 5-0 and a continuation of her strong play all tournament long.  Feller wasn't seeing a lot of action but when she did, they tended to require concentration and great saves as she denied another shot in the third.  As the game was winding down, Rossi again got the puck to Liv who had the Aces fans debating throwing their hats on the ice as she got her third of the game to make the score 6-0.  The offensive outburst by the girls shouldn't overshadow the excellent work of the girls in the back as Keatyn Bell, Lana Verellen, Paisley Stevens, Gracie Neumeister and Avery Kelly all were outstanding, keeping the Hawks at bay and moving the puck up ice to the hot forwards and keeping the puck in at the blueline to keep pressure.>
