Aces take a big step but lose 3-1 to South Huron

The Aces went into the Sabres home rink looking for a turnaround against the top team in the division.  The girls came out hot, applying pressure and skating hard.  Jillian Rossi got the first great chance on a breakaway but couldn't put the puck home.  Liv Willemsen followed suit on a one timer from Julia Glitz but was denied.  Feller made a great save after the Aces went down 1 girl shorthanded.  Lana Verellen had a great shift where she single handedly broke the puck out of the Aces zone herself while down.  Glitz then had another chance with a high quality shot the Sabres goalie managed to save with her headIn the second more chances came the Aces way including 2 great shots by Verellen after some great D.  Paisley Stevens had some great keep-ins but unfortunately the Sabres opened the score with their top player putting the puck top shelf after some nifty moves.  Rossi was in again but again was denied after a move on a semi breakaway.  The Aces then gave up a 2 on 0 on a bad bounce on a line change and the the puck ended up on the stick of the Sabres top player again to make it 2-0 for South Huron.  The Aces finished the period strong however with Liv, Emry MacIntosh and Caley Michaels having a strong shift with all 3 connecting to bring the Aces within 1.The third period was more of the same with the Aces getting chances and Feller standing tall when needed.  Avery Kelly kept the puck in on a great shift to keep sustained pressure and Keatyn Bell playing tough hockey taking a huge hit to make the play.  However, after a weird bounce ended up behind Feller on a broken play the Aces were down 3-1.  That's how it would end but the Aces at least showed the Sabres they weren't to be taken lightly despite the loss.
