Aces Keep Battle up for the Middle of the Pack
With just 17 goals for and 35 against the Rod Smith Aces still find themselves in the fight for 4th in the LLFHL Central West

The Rod Smith Financial Atom B Aces keep up the fight through the heart the the LLFHL Atom B Central West Division. The Aces fought the Heat on their home ice in Seaforth December 6 pushing the Heat back in their own zone throughout most of the three periods. 2 goals came from Niahm Appel including her second coming from a beautiful defensive zone rush from blueliner Hartwick to Leighton Nickel to Appel.  Emerie Smith added the insurance 3-1 goal in the third to seal the win for the Aces.

The Aces would host the high flying Lucan Irish the following day with the strategy to try and contain their division leading offense. The Aces would be down one D to start the game due to an upper body injury sustained in the previous day's road win and would quickly go down another wiped out with the flu bug at the first intermission. With four D left to contain the offense the Aces could do what they could to hold the Irish again to 3 goals, while Appel would supply the lone Ace goal.

After a tough 1-0 road loss to Lambeth the Aces would again hit the road to face the third place 8-3-2 Woodstock Wildcats Sunday December 15 for a matinee.  The Aces would be under sustained pressure in the first and would give up one before putting pressure back on the Wildcats throughout the second and the third.  Niahm Appel fired multiple blasts at net including a labelled wrister that was reflexively picked out of the air by the Wildcat net minder stymieing the Ace attempt to equalize the game. The wildcats would push late in the third to add the insurance 2-0 goal for the win against the 7-9-1 Aces.

The Aces head into the Christmas break with their back yard rinks freezing up just in time for each Ace to hone their shooting skills before they meet the Ilderton Jets Jan 5, 2020
