The Sommers Generator Systems Peewee A team faced the London Devilettes, once again, this past Saturday.
The girls came out on top with a 2-1 win putting them in a tie with London for first place in league play. Olivia started the scoring with a great wrist shot from the point. Alexis and Kiara earned the assists. London put one in during the second and we were back to a tie game. Finally in the third, with 6 minutes left in the game, Alexis flipped a backhand shot over the goalie’s shoulder to put the Aces back on top. Hailey and Shauna earned the assists. A great start to the weekend!
The game on Sunday against the St. Thomas Panthers ended with a 5-2 win for our Aces! Two goals in the first put our girls up on the Panthers right away. Hailey and Kiara scored with assists going to Shauna, Sadie and Lauren. In the second, St. Thomas responded with one of their own before Lauren scored assisted by Sadie and Kiara. Kiara then potted her second of the game to put us up 4-1 assisted by Lauren. Into the third, the Panthers added another one to cut the lead in half. However, our Aces were not going to go away quietly and added one more goal before the game ended. Olivia, with one of her famous shots from the point, found the back of the net with 26 seconds left, assisted by Sadie and Shauna. Mia and Carley each recorded a win this weekend thanks to some strong play by Katie, Hannah, Shauna, Olivia and Dayna on defence! A shout-out to Ashley for stepping up and playing forward in Ashlyn's absence! Great job, Aces!
