NotesThe Kinsmen Intermediate Aces are off to the KW Local League final on Sunday after a big 2-0 semi-final victory over the Waterloo Ravens Wednesday at the Dufferin Arena.
After a tough, scoreless first period, Stratford finally got on the board late in the second period as Megan Rauser jammed in a loose puck on a scramble in front of the Ravens net. Kirsten Matthews earned an assist on the play.
The third period saw the Aces push hard, forcing the Waterloo netminder to make a number of key saves until Rauser connected again on another scramble to give Stratford a 2-0 lead. Aleida Boersen and Matthews each earned helpers on the play.
Waterloo pulled the goalie in the final two minutes, but Stratford's defence stood tall, and, as the final buzzer sounded the score remained 2-0, with Aces keeper Tasia Reynen earning the shutout.
The Kinsmen Ladies will face off against the Woolwich Wild on Sunday at 5:45 pm at the Sportsworld Complex in Kitchener for the Intermediate division title.
