NotesIn KW Girls hockey Houseleage action on Sunday at the Allman, Stratford McDonalds AtoMc extended its' winning streak with a convincing 4-1 win over the visiting Kitchener Bobcats.
The first period saw both teams trade chances with solid scoring chances by the line of Sammy Orr, offensive player of the game Brayah Krantz and Dani Ramseyer. In the dying seconds of the opening period, a solid save by Stratford goalie Dana Yantzi allowed Sylvia Van Nes to race down the ice and beat the Kitchener goaltender to put Stratford ahead 1-0.
The second period continued to be back in forth with Stratford and Kitchener exchanging goals. The prettiest goal of the year came when Isabelle Robinet fought in the corner to dig out the puck, passing to scoring threat Dani Ramseyer, who then found Meghan Ganselves alone in front of the net for the easy goal. After two periods, Stratford lead 2-1.
The third period was all Stratford. With Madeline Mortimer keeping the puck inside the blue line, Defensive partner Georgia Neely was able to pounce on the puck and found the back of the net with a strong shot through traffic to put Stratford up 3-1.
Strong defensive play by the defensive player of the game Vivi Stroh and rookie Emma Proulx kept the Bobcats at bay. In the remaining minutes of the final frame, the line of Van Nes, Meryl Tourigny and Sierra Pitts would not quit. After a goalmouth scramble goal by Tourigny was waived off, Van Nes finally found the net with her second goal of the game to put the game out of the reach 4-1.
