After being on the short end for the first 2 games in the series, the Downie Optimist MAA Aces came up with a gritty effort Tuesday vs. the Saugeen Maitland Lightning for a 1-1 tie in OWHA Playdowns. After a scoreless first, Rachel Koot kept the play onside with a pass to Shannon Jewitt who unloaded a shot right along the ice that Jess Barton tipped to take a 1-0 lead. That lead would hold till the Lightning tied it up on a 5 on 3 with 1:47 left in the game. Holly Deighton made 38 saves in a flawless effort in goal for the Aces.
