Sirkel Foods Midget Aces - Kitchener Local League Champs
Submitted By Jan Ballantyne on Wednesday, March 27, 2013
The Sirkel Foods Midget Aces were crowned the Kitchener Local League Champions on Sunday afternoon after downing the Grand River Mustangs 3-1 in the championship game.

"League Champs" added to a long list of accomplishments this year including, Stratford Aces Festival Cup Midget Champions, the Kitchener Cripps Memorial Tournament Midget champions and a near perfect league record of 22 wins, 2 ties and 2 losses. On Sunday Stratford had to battle through some early penalty problems that saw them fall behind 1-0 late in the first period. Avery Boersen tied things up late in the 2nd period while shorthanded by cashing in her own rebound on a hard play to the net, assisted by Lydia Mueller. This effort really swung momentum in Stratfords favour and they did not look back, scoring two unanswered goals by the midpoint of the 3rd period, both scored by Lindsay Neeb. Neebs first effort was assisted by Ali Graver and Jill McIntosh and her second by Claire Roulston and Isabel Smith. Emily Strawbridge was strong in net keeping the score close early in the game and preserving the lead late in the 3rd.
