Notes
The Downie Optimist Midget A Aces had a successful weekend playing in the St. Catherine's tournament. The ladies went undefeated in 4 round robin games, recording 3 wins and a tie, which left them sitting in second place over all. The line of Nicole Cosgrove, Abby Gilchrist, and Ally Muir dominated in the offensive end the entire week-end racking up a total of 19 points between them. Cosgrove led the trio with six goals, and 2 assists. The Aces played 2 games on Friday against Burlington and Durham West, and won both games. Lily Daum started the scoring for the Aces in the first game. In the second game Aimee King netted a beauty on a nice rush which started in the Aces end. On Saturday the Aces faced the host team St. Catherine's Junior Badgers and won the game 3-2, scoring in the final minute on one of Cosgove's nifty goals. The second game on Saturday was against the Ottawa Ice which ended in a tie. The Aces were matched up against Ottawa again in the Semi final game on Sunday and come up just short in a 2-1 loss. The ladies had a great week-end and have much to look forward to moving forward as a well knit team.
