Strickland's Toyota Atom C captured a silver medal in the Aces tournament.  Faith Binns netted two goals including a nice one-timer that caught the Twin Centre Herricanes goalie by surprise on Friday morning.  Assists  on both goals came from Mihret Eliasziw and Emma Ivey recorded her first shutout of the tournament in a 2-0 victory.  In the afternoon game the Aces defeated the Wilmot Wolverines in a close game with a 1-0 win.  Binns scored the lone goal for Stratford and Sarah Frank protected the lead in front of Ivey who recorded her second shutout of the tournament.  Saturday brought another close game as the Aces couldn't solve the Brantford Ice Cats hot goaltending.  Ivey again was up to the challenge and recorded her third shutout of the tournament.  The close defensive game ended in a 0-0 tie but was enough to give the Aces the first seed heading into the semi-finals.  Sunday morning involved a tense re-match with Brantford with Binns opening the scoring with an unassisted goal mid-way through the first period.  Jessie Hahn padded the lead with a pass from Lydia Puetz before the period came to a close.  The Ice Cats battled back to break Ivey's shut-out streak with two quick goals which sent the game into overtime.  Playing four on four, Binns was able to capitalize on a breakaway pass from Eliasziw to send the Aces into the championship afternoon game.  The Wolverines were prepared for a battle with the Aces on Sunday afternoon but couldn't solve the Aces strong defense from Amelie Saunders and Adriana Danen who both tracked down Wolverines on various breakaway opportunities.  Ivey was back to form in the afternoon game and the Wolverines couldn't find a way to get a puck past the Aces goaltender.  The five minute overtime period couldn't resolve the deadlock and the Aces ended the tournament with a heartbreaking loss in the three player shoot-out.

Strickland's Atom C Aces captured the SILVER medal at the BAD tournament on the weekend.

The Aces started quickly on Friday with a win over St. Clair Storm.  Faith Binns took a pass from Mihret Eliasziw and quickly put the Aces ahead mid-way through the first period.  The Aces scored again quickly when Chloe Bannon's hard work at both ends of the ice paid off with an unassisted goal that put the Aces up by two.  Aces goalie Emma Ivey kept the Storm off the board until the third period when St. Clair tallied their only goal of the 2-1 game.

The Aces played another tight game against the Woolwich Wild on Friday afternoon.  Faith Binns took a pass from Quinn Rison to score her second goal of the tournament late in the second period.  Claire Perreault's defensive effort helped the Aces Emma Ivey record her first shutout of the tournament and sent the Aces into the Sunday semi-final game with a 1-0 win.

On Sunday, Strickland's Atom C Aces played an exciting game against the Mount Brydges Cougars.  The Aces started strongly when Faith Binns completed a soft pass to Mihret Eliasziw who made no mistake when she hit the open net to put the Aces in the lead.  Despite the Aces efforts the Cougars tied the score in the third period and were able to keep the score tied and send the game into a shootout.
Faith Binns and Amelie Saunders scored in the first round of shots and the Cougars replied with two goals of their own.  It wasn’t until 14 shots later that the Cougars finally found a way to get the puck past Aces goaltender Emma Ivey.  With the Aces shooting last it was up to Quinn Rison to keep the Aces hopes alive and she came through for the girls with a wrist shot into the Cougars net.  Both teams traded further chances before Saunders deked the goaltender and sent the Aces to the final.

Stratford knew they would be in for a tough final game against a strong team from Ilderton.  The Aces were remarkable and were the first team to keep Ilderton scoreless in the first period but were unable to take the lead in the game.  The Ilderton Jets were able to catch the Aces off guard with three quick goals in the third period before Faith Binns took a pass from Mihret Eliaswiz and scored on a rare power play.  The deficit was too much to overcome but the Aces as the game ended in a 3-1 final.

The Aces captured a well deserved Silver Medal with solid team effort in every game of the weekend.

Strickland's Toyota Atom C Aces had another successful tournament on the weekend with another Silver medal.  The Aces started the tournament against the Petrolia Oilers and were quick to open the scoring with a goal from Mihret Eliasziw on a pass from Sarah Frank.  Amelie Saunders chased down a Petrolia player late in the game and dove across the ice to take away the scoring chance.  A strong team effort gave Stratford the 1-0 win and a shutout for Emma Ivey.

The Aces met up with the Kempville Storm in their second match of the day.  The Aces played a strong game and stormed the net in the first two periods but they couldn’t solve the Storm goaltender until the third period when Chloe Bannon found the corner of the net with an assist from Jessie Hahn.  Again, Ivey played well in the Stratford net and earned a well deserved 1-0 shutout when she robbed a Storm shot with a glove save late in the game.

Stratford had a re-match with the Kempville team in the final on Sunday but it was Kempville’s turn to open the scoring in the first period with a deflection which surprised the Aces.  The Aces had several chances to tie the game including two pucks that made it to the goal line and another hit goal post but they couldn’t get the right bounce to send the game to overtime.  Unfortunately the one goal proved the difference and the Aces fell 1-0.

The Aces surprised Kincardine Kinucks on Friday when Faith Binns opened the scoring on a nice pass from Mihret Eliasziw.  The Kinucks responded late in the first and tied the game.  An injury left the Aces with a short bench and the Kinucks were able to capitalize with another tally in the second period despite strong defensive play by Claire Perreault and Adriana Danen.  The Kinucks prevented any comeback chance with an empty net goal to preserve the 3-1 game.

Strickland's Atom C Aces met with the Sudbury Lady Wolves on Saturday in their final game.  A bad bounce ended up behind goaltender Emma Ivey mid way through the second but the Aces outworked the Lady Wolves and their patience paid off when Faith Binns tied the score after taking a pass from Mihret Eliasziw and Lydia Puetz.  The teams traded chances but the goaltenders kept both teams alive and sent the game to overtime.  One minute into overtime the Lady Wolves carried the puck deep in the Aces end and found the net on a perfect shot that stopped the Aces chances to give them the 2-1 loss.
