Player/Parent Christmas Classic
As a kid playing Minor hockey in Stratford I have many tremendous memories of those times. Many of my friends today are guys I played minor hockey with. We created a ton of memories we often reflect on for a laugh today.

One memory that I have was the Father/Son game which took place on a yearly basis when we were kids. We all thought that we would hammer our parents if given the opportunity. A lesson was always quickly learned when either my Dad or somebody's Dad would lay us out or take the puck from us with ease. We as kids were left without the puck & had to skate hard to try & catch the old men we thought we were going to walk all over.

How times have changed. Now with all the liabilities out there that were never a thought 30 years ago, we find ourselves in an era where the arena staff & coaches aren't allowed on the ice without a helmet. A far cry from the Dad in jeans having a smoke in the room prior to the Father/Son tilt 30 years ago.

I however wanted to have my daughter & each and every girl on the Stratford Atom B Aces enjoy an old classic, create a memory or two & have some fun. So today we rented the ice as a parent group and had the Player/Parent Christmas Classic. The game featured 16 goals ending in a 8-8 tie.

But most importantly it was a hour out of our busy lives where each player had the chance to share the ice with either Mom or Dad for a great game of the best game in the world. There was some great highlights, some great wipeouts but everyone shared in a smile and a great time was had by all.

I would like to thank all the Moms & Dads who strapped on the gear today, your daughters loved it. I also want to thank the girls for playing hard and having as much fun they could have had.

Merry Christmas to everyone!!!
