Atom Aces Finish a Strong Season
The Aces finished off their season yesterday with a hard fought battle against the top place Woodstock Wildcats.
Woodstock hosted the series opener on Friday night. The Aces started the game strong and had a number of close scoring chances, but could not get the puck in the net. The Wildcats scored late in the second period which seemed to take the wind out of the Aces sails. The Aces girls put up a good fight, but Woodstock netted two more un-answered goals to end the game 3-0.
On Saturday, the Aces had the home ice advantage. Once again, the Woodstock girls scored late in the second period, however the Aces did not let up. They put it all on the ice, and played their best hockey, however it was not enough to defeat the Woodstock team. Despite some penalty trouble, the Aces continued to play a strong game, putting forth a great team effort, but could not score on the Wildcats goalie. The game ended in a 2-0 loss for the Aces which ends their playoff run for this season.
Each and every Aces player should be very proud of their accomplishments this year. They ended the seaon with one silver and three gold tournament medals, as well as getting through to their league final. The Aces now have the Provincial championships in Ottawa to prepare for. Good luck ACES!!
